Writing Process

Learning about how to use critical thinking, reading, and writing process also helped me how to write a paper. By applying techniques of inquiry and research to my paper easily such as finding, evaluating, analyzing, and synthesizing the appropriate primary and secondary sources. It made my distinctions in thinking, reading, and writing more effective by helping me think deeper into things after researching on it to put into my paper with the writing process.

Yes, I did learn about MLA format in English 111, but after using it now in English 112 I have got this method down pact and I love how it works. This does help me be more patient with writing my paper, because it makes it a lot easier than what it is if you did not use a 12 fonts, indent, or use double space. This writing process has taught me how to be a patient person, because when it comes down to writing a paper, like this one or doing hard homework you have to be patient if not you will feel like just giving up on everything which you cannot do at all. Being patient has also been helping me in my life situations at my job, because if it was up to me I would have been quit from being disrespected by rude customers.

The writing process also helped me use the rhetorical triangle a lot. All these methods revolve around the same thing and that’s the rhetorical triangle, because it helps you know how to write to your audiences and much more.

Oral Communication

Have you ever been told you talk way too much? Well, I have been told that I communicate with anybody and everybody. To me, being a better communicator will get you through life a lot more. You never know who you could be talking to at that moment. The person that you could be talking to could make you a rich person or even talk knowledge into you that you did not even know about.

During this class I have learned how to be a better communicator than I once was by participating in different discussions with other people and with the professor. I have been learning how to be a better listener than I once was also, because I am the type of person who will talk and never listen to anybody. When other people talked to me I used to just stand or sit and pretend like I was listening, but it was mainly going in one ear and out the other.

The oral communication method has taught me how to be more interested into the rhetorical triangle that was also taught to us. This was taught to us for the oral communication method both of these together helped me be able to talk to my audience in a more respectful and knowledgeable way.

Digital Technologies for Education
A digital technology is supposed to be used to refer to the ever-evolving suite of digital software, hardware, and architecture. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_technologies_in_education)This method is used in learning and teaching in the schools for students. The concept of digital technologies also addresses the reality that the young develop their learning easily, by teaching themselves how to use and apply the technologies and properly under guidance of teachers. Some people use digital technology to help them research, record, take pictures for their class, etc.
Technology has done many things for us in today’s society especially for education and schools. ( http://www.essayfrog.com/essays/9477/preview) Technology in the school system has impacted the students and teachers in many positive ways, including virtual field trips, testing tips, teacher resources, class web sites, and lesson plans. (http://www.essayfrog.com/essays/9477/preview) With computer use in our schools, we have access to many different sources and various types of learning.
Digital technology was used a lot in this class. I did not really get taught how to use this method any better than I had already known, because from being in the engineering major and being able to already know how to use computers I already knew how to research, get on different websites that helped for the class, etc.
Although I already knew a lot about this method I liked how we learned about the blog website. This was the main source that helped me to learn. It taught me that I can make a portfolio better by being able to arrange my essays in an order that I want them in and also be able to talk out to my audiences better. Using the blogger website was a big part of this method, because it lets you express your feelings towards what you want to write and posts about and not everybody has to see it, it could only be only shared to your friends or kept private.
As time progresses on I will start to use this website more often. At times when I feel like there is something going on in my life that I would want to write about and share to the public so they will not make the mistakes or regret things that I have already done, I will do so. I am glad that I learned about this website, because this is a very knowledgeable site.

Rhetorical Knowledge
Rhetorical knowledge is the context of a rhetorical event that consists of an issue, an audience, and a set of constraints. The two leading views of the rhetorical knowledge exist today. One argues that a situation determines and brings about rhetoric, while the other proposes that rhetoric creates “situations” by making issues noticeable. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhetorical_situation) Everybody has mainly used there rhetorical knowledge when they talked to their friends. The rhetorical knowledge helped me to recognize the elements of argumentation in text by using what they call the rhetorical triangle. The rhetorical triangle is when the author talks or writes it text depending on who their audiences are in a time called chronos. It also adapts the writing to meet its demands for argumentation in the context.
Rhetorical knowledge helped me out when I was trying to argue about something. Like if I got the arguing with my girlfriend about something this helped me get down to the main point about why I was arguing with this person instead of going hours and hours of arguing about this point that turns into something else. This rhetorical knowledge helped me to analyze the needs and expectations of instructors, students, and other audiences.
Rhetorical helped me learn how to bring credibility to my paper, because without credibility in your argument paper how are people going to know that you are speaking the truth about what you are arguing. Learning about rhetorical helped me deliver text appropriately in print, digital, visual, or oral so it can meet all of my audiences expectations and needs. For example say I am writing about an argument to my boss about texting and driving, but somebody else is doing the same to compete with me and this paper is going to help the boss find out who to promote to the next level I would want everybody to use a step in oral communication by listening to me read my paper and tell me that my paper has credible points in it plus it goes with the audiences that I was writing to.

What I Have Learned

I want to start off by saying this has been a fantastic semester so far and that I love this class. I have learned plenty of new things that have been helping me to get through school work, but most importantly it has been helping me in life situations.

This class has taught me how to be a patient person, because when it comes down to writing a paper, like this one or doing hard homework you have to be patient if not you will feel like just giving up on everything which you cannot do at all. Being patient has also been helping me in my life situations at my job, because if it was up to me I would have been quit from being disrespected by rude customers.

Speaking of communication using rhetorical knowledge is a great way of trying to communicate with people, because it helps you learn how to talk and write to your audiences. Everybody has mainly used there rhetorical knowledge when they talked to their friends. The rhetorical knowledge helps you recognize the elements of argumentation in text by using what they call the rhetorical triangle. The rhetorical triangle is when the author talks or writes it text depending on who their audiences are in a time called chronos. It also adapts the writing to meet its demands for argumentation in the context. Rhetorical knowledge helps you out when you are trying to argue about something. Like if you get the arguing with your girlfriend about something this helps you get down to main point about why you are arguing with this person instead of going hours and hours of arguing about this point that turns into something else. This rhetorical knowledge can help you analyze the needs and expectations of instructors, students, and other audiences.

I have also learned how to use my time more consistently with my work and all my other hobbies from reading about Thomas Jefferson who had the things that he did timed out. Reading about Thomas Jefferson also made me a better person physically and emotionally now I do not save things for the last minute, because I made my own schedule and timed my days out.

Yes, I did learn about MLA format in English 111, but after using it now in English 112 I have got this method down pact and I love how it works. This does help me be more patient with writing my paper, because it makes it a lot easier than what it is if you did not use a 12 font, indent, or use double space.

To conclude this being in this class has taught me a lot. All these things that I have learned about I use in my life now mainly of how to communicate with people and how to listen. It made me a better person in real life of how to be patient and of how to not hold things off to the last minute. Leaving things off to the last minute makes things more stressful on you and actually waste your time. My professor takes the things that we learn about and puts them in real life situations which makes this class more interesting and helps me to learn easily and more effectively.

In this class I feel like I should at least end up with a B average, but it is not my call to what I get. I know that I did learn a lot from this class and I am willing to keep learning more from it. My favorite part of this class so far was learning about how to use the rhetorical knowledge, because you always need to know how to speak to your audiences and at the same time have the credibility that you need. Also another favorite part of this class that I learned was how to improve my oral communication, because this method helps you meet new people that you might need throughout your life, but the only way you can communicate with people is also by listening to them and not ignoring what they have to say to you. If you do that you are not learning about this person neither is you using this method of oral communication effectively.

Should Medical Marijuana Be Legal Or Illegal In Va?

Medical Marijuana
Medical Marijuana has been claimed to help with a large number of wide ranging symptoms and it has a number of possible uses in medical treatment. It seems to mainly focus on cancer chemotherapy, AIDS, diseases of the body such as glaucoma and diseases of the mind such as Adult Attention Deficit Disorder and certain forms of tumor growth.
Marijuana has been known to be a good substance to cure citizens who has developed or who has cancer. Using this drug as a medication should have other solutions to it, such as you should only have this in your presents if it has been subscribed to you from a doctor, you must have the papers for it, and you must have a legal amount of it. Scientists have confirmed that the marijuana plant contains active ingredients with therapeutic potential for relieving pain, controlling nausea, stimulating appetite, and decreasing ocular pressure. (http://medicalmarijuana.com/medical-marijuana-treatments)
Cancer patients can get help from using medical marijuana, even if it is another cancer treatment or to help calm down the side effects of chemotherapy. A patient who has lung cancer can also use medical marijuana; studies show that smoking marijuana does not cause cancer. In fact, studies show that marijuana slows the attack of getting lung cancer or any kind of cancer down. Cannabidiol, which is one of the five cannabinoids found in medical marijuana, also stops tumor growth in leukemia and breast cancer. (http://medicalmarijuana.com/medical-marijuana-treatments)
The patient that is suffering cancer treatment often uses medical marijuana to reduce vomiting and nausea. In a review conducted by the University of Arkansas, cannabinoids significantly reduced vomiting and nausea in breast cancer patients following breast surgery. Medical marijuana can also serve as an appetite stimulant to improve cancer treatment related anorexia. (http://medicalmarijuana.com/medical-marijuana-treatments)
In a recent study, medical marijuana slowed down the spread of metastatic breast cancer. It's certain that research will continue to discover new applications for medical marijuana in the treatment of cancer. Current legal restrictions on the use of marijuana has prevented researchers from conducting the broad clinical trials necessary to fully understand the myriad ways in which medical marijuana can help cancer patients. (http://medicalmarijuana.com/medical-marijuana-treatments)
Glaucoma is an eye disease which afflicts more than four million Americans and is the leading cause of blindness in the United States. According to the National Society for Prevention of Blindness, there are 178,000 new cases of glaucoma diagnosed each year. Medical marijuana’s benefit for glaucoma patients is its effect on intraocular pressure (IOP). In one study, more than 80% of patients who smoked marijuana using an ice-cooled water pipe experienced a reduction in IOP of 16-45%. Another study used cannabinoids contained in medicinal marijuana, and found an important drop in IOP in patients. A clinical trial also found that medical marijuana reduces intraocular pressure, as well as blood pressure overall. Scientists have been working to develop a marijuana eye drop for several years. Recently, they focused on delta-9-THC, marijuana's psychoactive ingredient. Some researchers, however, has wondered if other parts in the marijuana plant might be more effective in reducing IOP. This idea is strengthened by the few glaucoma patients who have continued legal access to marijuana. In these cases, synthetic THC is only effective for a short period of time. Natural marijuana, however, constantly lowers IOP. (http://medicalmarijuana.com/medical-marijuana-treatments)
Medical Marijuana is widely recognized as an effective treatment for symptoms AIDS as well as the side effects related to the antiretroviral therapies that constitute the first line of treatment for AIDS. It values as stopping vomit and relieving pain has been proven in numerous studies and has been recognized by several government-sponsored reviews. (http://marijuana-as-medicine.org/Alliance/facts.html)
Patients living with AIDS typically take antiretroviral drugs to delay the start of AIDS. However, side effects of antiretroviral therapy, which includes nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite and severe pain in the nerve endings, are often awful. Other side effects of AIDS include wasting syndrome or cachexia and stubborn pain. Many patients use medical marijuana to help manage their symptoms. According to a 2005 study published in the Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes, more than 60% of AIDS patients use marijuana as a medicine. (http://marijuana-as-medicine.org/Alliance/facts.html)

In the 1970s, a series of human clinical trials established marijuana ability to motivate food eating and weight gain in healthy volunteers. In a randomized trial in AIDS patients, THC meaningfully improved appetite and nausea in comparison with placebo. There were also styles towards improved mood and weight gain but, the annoying effects were generally mild. The possible help of marijuana in AIDS made it one of the lead signs for such treatment in the result of the American Institute of Medicine in their study.( http://marijuana-as-medicine.org/Alliance/facts.html)
Depression is a serious medical condition that can affect the way you feel and act towards others. Every year approximately 15 million people are diagnosed with Clinical Depression. (http://medicalmarijuana.com/medical-marijuana-treatments) The patients that suffer the most for depression are mainly the women, then men, elderly, and then the teens and even little kids.
Medical marijuana has been used for centuries to treat depression. Marijuana four hundred years ago was used for depression in India. (http://drugabuse.gov/ResearchReports/Marijuana/marijuana5.html) In the 17th century, physicians in England treated depression by prescribing marijuana. In 1890, British physician J. R. Reynolds determined that marijuana was helpful for depression and other illnesses. (http://drugabuse.gov/ResearchReports/Marijuana/marijuana5.html)
More recently, patient surveys show that many people to treat depression with very good results are using marijuana. (http://marijuana-as-medicine.org/Alliance/facts.html) Many studies also show that patients who are depressed as a result of another serious disease such as cancer, HIV, MS or chronic pain, report less depression symptoms with the use of marijuana. (http://marijuana-as-medicine.org/Alliance/facts.html)
Research has shown that low doses of marijuana increased serotonin levels in the brain, which improves the mood. (http://www.medicalmarijuana.net) Higher doses of marijuana achieved just the opposite effects, increasing symptoms of depression. Currently, many people with depression symptoms use medical marijuana. Patients must be careful to use low to moderate doses to do positive effects. Low doses may give the relief needed and without the unwanted side effects of straight medicines. Counseling, exercise and healthy diet will also improve results.
As you can see marijuana in a medical way is not bad as everybody makes it out to be. It actually improves and increases many diseases and disorders.
